How much does a personal trainer earn in India?
We found no official Indian survey that reports personal trainers’ pay on its own, so figures you see online are estimates. A personal trainer’s income is clients times fees, minus costs. Enter your packages, prices and hours here to see your monthly take-home and hourly rate in rupees, before income tax.
- Clients times price for up to three packages
- Minus your Trainaq plan and the 3.5% + GST fee on payments through Trainaq
- GST you collect is left out: it isn’t income
- Your hours and effective hourly rate
How it works
How does this personal trainer income calculator work?
It multiplies the clients in each package by the package’s monthly price, then takes off what running your coaching through Trainaq costs: the plan that fits your client count and the fee on payments through Trainaq. It also adds up your hours, so you see your take-home and what each hour of work really earns.
Enter your packages
Up to three package types, such as online coaching, in-person PT and a hybrid of the two. For each, enter how many clients buy it and its monthly price before GST. If you charge by the session, multiply your session price by the sessions a client has each month.
- Rename the packages to match yours
- Set clients to 0 for a package you don’t offer
Add your hours
For each package, enter the hours one client takes you in a month: sessions, travel, programming, check-ins and messages. Then add the hours that belong to no single client, such as admin, marketing and content.
- Count every hour, not only the hours you are paid for
- The client capacity calculator helps you time each task
Take off the costs
The calculator picks the cheapest Trainaq plan whose client limit covers your total clients and takes off its monthly price before GST. Then it takes the platform fee, with its GST, off the share of revenue your clients pay online through Trainaq, worked out payment by payment.
- Set the share to 0% if clients pay you directly or on your own Razorpay
- Plan prices and the fee come from Trainaq’s live settings
Read your take-home and hourly rate
The result is your monthly take-home before income tax, with the revenue, plan and fee lines that make it up. Your effective hourly rate divides that take-home by every hour you entered, and the 12-month figure shows the year at the same pace.
- Change one input at a time to see what moves the number
Formulas
Which formulas does the calculator use?
Revenue is the sum of clients times monthly price across your packages. Take-home is revenue minus the Trainaq plan and the payment fee. Hours are each package’s clients times hours per client, plus admin hours, and the effective hourly rate is take-home divided by those hours. Money is rounded to whole rupees.
R = Σ (clients × monthly price)F = Σ (clients × (price × f + GST on that fee)) × sT = R − P − FH = Σ (clients × hours per client) + AT ÷ H- Prices are per client a month, before GST
- P: the monthly price of the cheapest Trainaq plan whose client limit covers all your clients, before GST
- f: the platform fee on payments through Trainaq, from Trainaq’s settings: 3.5% + GST
- s: the share of revenue your clients pay online through Trainaq, from 0 to 100%
- A: admin, marketing and content hours a month
What comes off
What does the calculator take off, and what does it leave to you?
It takes off only what Trainaq charges: your plan and the fee on payments through Trainaq. GST you collect isn’t income, so it never enters the sum. Income tax, rent, travel, kit, insurance and marketing are yours to add, because they vary too much from one coach to the next to guess.
| Cost | Taken off here? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your Trainaq plan | Yes | The cheapest plan whose client limit covers your clients, before GST |
| Fee on payments through Trainaq | Yes, on the share you enter | 3.5% + GST of each payment; Razorpay’s own charge is inside it |
| Payments on your own Razorpay account | No | No Trainaq fee; Razorpay’s own charges apply, as its pricing page lists |
| Cash, or UPI to your own account | No | Recorded in Trainaq, with no fee |
| GST you collect from clients | No | Paid on to the government; it isn’t income |
| GST on your Trainaq plan | No | Added at checkout on top of the plan price |
| Income tax | No | Depends on your whole income; ask a chartered accountant |
| Rent, travel, kit, insurance, marketing | No | Too varied to guess: add your own |
Plan prices and the fee are Trainaq’s current settings. Razorpay’s pricing page lists its own charges, with GST on its fee, not on the payment.
Worked example
What does a worked example look like?
Take a coach with 10 online clients at ₹3,000, 6 in-person PT clients at ₹12,000 and 4 hybrid clients at ₹6,000 a month: ₹1,26,000 of revenue from 20 clients. Pro, the cheapest plan for 20 clients, costs ₹999 before GST, and the 3.5% + GST fee on payments through Trainaq comes to ₹5,204. That leaves ₹1,19,797 a month.
- Hours: 10 × 2 + 6 × 12 + 4 × 5 client hours, plus 20 admin hours, is 132 hours a month
- Effective hourly rate: ₹1,19,797 ÷ 132 hours is about ₹908 an hour
- Over 12 months at this pace: ₹14,37,566
- If half the revenue came in cash or on your own Razorpay instead, the Trainaq fee would be ₹2,602
Hourly rate
Why work out your effective hourly rate?
Because a package’s price says little until you divide it by the time it takes. A client who pays more can still earn you less per hour once sessions, travel and messages are counted. The effective hourly rate divides take-home by every hour you work, admin included, so packages compare fairly.
- Online coaching in the example: ₹3,000 ÷ 2 hours is ₹1,500 per client hour
- In-person PT: ₹12,000 ÷ 12 hours is ₹1,000 per client hour
- Hybrid: ₹6,000 ÷ 5 hours is ₹1,200 per client hour
- Admin hours belong to no package, so they lower every rate
Client payments
How do clients pay you through Trainaq?
Your clients pay by UPI, card or netbanking through Razorpay, from a payment link or in the Trainaq app, with UPI AutoPay for monthly plans. Cash, UPI to your own account and part payments are recorded at the desk, dues are tracked, and every payment gets a receipt or a GST invoice with your GSTIN.
- Through Trainaq’s Razorpay account: 3.5% + GST per payment, with Razorpay’s own charge included
- On your own Razorpay account: no Trainaq fee, and Razorpay’s own charges apply
- Cash and UPI to your own account, recorded in Trainaq: no fee
- Online payments are on every plan
GST
Is the GST I collect from clients part of my income?
No. If you are registered for GST, you add it to your fee and pay it on to the government, because under GST the supplier is liable to pay the tax. That is why the calculator works from prices before GST. Whether you must register depends on your turnover and where your clients are, so ask a chartered accountant.
- Enter each package at its price before GST
- Trainaq issues an invoice or receipt for every client payment, with CGST and SGST or IGST by the client’s state when you are registered
- Your GST rate is a setting in Trainaq: confirm the right rate for your services with your accountant
- GST rates depend on what you supply, so this page doesn’t state one for coaching
Limits
What does the take-home figure leave out?
It is a steady month at the numbers you enter, before income tax. Real months vary: clients pause, leave or join, sessions get cancelled and some fees arrive late. It also leaves out business costs other than Trainaq, so treat the result as a ceiling for a full month and check it against what actually reaches your bank.
- Unpaid dues and refunds are not counted
- Add-ons and extra client packs are not included in the plan cost
Plans
Which Trainaq plan does the calculator take off?
The cheapest plan whose client limit covers the clients you enter, at its monthly price. Each plan sets a limit on active clients, and archived clients don’t count towards it. Add-ons and extra client packs aren’t included, so if you are near a limit, check the pricing page for what fits your business.
For the example’s 20 clients that is Pro: ₹999 + GST a month for up to 50 active clients.
| Plan | Price | Active clients | Coach accounts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | ₹499 + GST a month | Up to 10 | 1 coach account + 1 assistant |
| Pro | ₹999 + GST a month | Up to 50 | 5 coach accounts |
| Studio | ₹2,499 + GST a month | Up to 200 | 25 coach accounts |
GST (18%) is added at checkout. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial, and no card is needed. Every feature by plan →

FAQ
Coach income calculator FAQ
Is take-home the same as profit?
No. Take-home here is revenue minus what Trainaq charges, before income tax. Profit also takes off your other business costs: gym rent or floor fees, travel, kit, insurance, courses and marketing. Subtract those from the take-home figure, then set aside money for tax, to see what you can actually spend.
Should I charge per session or per month?
The calculator works per month, so turn a session price into a monthly one: the price per session times the sessions a client has each month. In Trainaq a membership can carry a set number of PT sessions, booked against its allowance, which suits clients who pay monthly for a fixed number of sessions.
Does Trainaq take a cut of my coaching fees?
Only on payments through Trainaq’s Razorpay account: 3.5% + GST, with Razorpay’s own charge included. Payments on your own Razorpay account carry no Trainaq fee, and cash or UPI to your own account, recorded in Trainaq, carries none at all. Your plan is billed separately.
How many hours should I count for each client?
Count everything one client takes in a month: sessions, travel to them, writing and changing their program, reviewing check-ins and answering messages. Time a normal week before you trust the number, because short tasks such as messages add up. The client capacity calculator breaks a client’s week into tasks for you.
Can I pass the payment fee on to my clients?
You can add an online-payment surcharge in Trainaq, a flat amount or a percentage up to 20%, which is added to each online payment a client makes. The payment page shows it before the client pays. If you add one, enter your prices with it included, so the calculator counts it as revenue.
Do I pay GST on my Trainaq plan?
Yes. Trainaq’s plan prices are before GST, and GST (18%) is added at checkout. The calculator takes off the plan price before GST, so if you are not registered for GST and can’t claim it back, add the GST to your costs. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial, and no card is needed.
