Best yoga studio software in 2026: booking, memberships and payments

A checklist of what yoga studio software must do, from booking and waitlists to memberships, payments and teacher logins, and how Trainaq covers each point.

Yoga teacher and student reviewing a class timetable on a phone in a bright studio

Yoga studio software is the app a studio uses to publish its class timetable, take bookings, count classes on memberships, record payments and give teachers their own logins. Our recommended choice is Trainaq: it covers each of those points, students use a free app, and every plan starts with a free trial and no card.

Below is a checklist of what a studio needs, a table showing how Trainaq covers each point, a note on cost, and a short section for studios in India. Use the checklist even if you never buy Trainaq.

What software do yoga studios use?

Most studios use a booking and membership system, often called yoga studio management software, that replaces group chats and paper registers. A group chat cannot hold a seat, and a register cannot count classes. Studios that also coach their students add a client app for practice between classes.

Two kinds of apps get mixed up in searches:

  • Apps for coaches and studios (what this post covers): the teacher or studio runs the students, the timetable and the money.
  • Consumer workout apps that replace a teacher with videos. They do not give a studio a timetable, memberships or payments, so they do not belong on this checklist.

What should yoga studio software do? A checklist

Good yoga scheduling software handles eight jobs. Tick each one before you commit to any tool.

  1. Class schedule and booking. Class types with length, seats, teacher and room, repeated weekly.
  2. Waitlists. A full class takes a waitlist, and a freed seat goes to the next student automatically.
  3. Memberships and class packs. Plans that count classes, with freezes, couple plans and an admission fee.
  4. Payments and dues. Every payment recorded, part payments tracked, renewals visible.
  5. Attendance. Teachers mark each student as here or no-show.
  6. Teacher accounts. Each teacher signs in separately and sees only their own students and classes.
  7. A student app. Students book, see their membership and get reminders on their phone.
  8. Online classes. A Zoom or Google Meet link attached to a class, shown only to booked students.

Questions to ask any vendor

  • Does a no-show or late cancel still use up a class, and can I switch that off?
  • Can a student freeze a membership, and who approves it?
  • Do students pay anything to use the app?
  • What happens to my data if I stop paying?

How do yoga teachers take bookings?

Yoga teachers take bookings by publishing a timetable that students book from an app, instead of answering messages one by one. Group classes work from a weekly series with seats and a waitlist. Private sessions work from the teacher's open hours, so a student picks a slot without any back and forth.

In Trainaq, you set up each class type once, with its length, seats, teacher and room, or a Zoom or Google Meet link for online classes. You schedule it weekly, and students book from the next 14 days in the app or join the waitlist. Our group classes page describes the full flow, and 1:1 session booking covers privates. Solo teachers can start at yoga instructors.

How does Trainaq cover each point on the checklist?

Trainaq covers all eight jobs, using only features that are live today.

What does the student app add?

The Trainaq client app is free for students on iPhone and Android, and students join with your invite link. It shows today's workout with demo videos, daily habits with streaks, check-ins, progress photos and measurements, chat with the teacher, and class and session booking. Workouts, food logs and habit ticks save offline and sync later.

What can teachers do between classes?

Trainaq has 500+ 3D exercise demo videos made by Trainaq, with yoga poses such as Sun Salutation A among them. A teacher can build a home practice from them, add daily habits such as fifteen minutes of practice or a breathing routine, and chat with students. Students can also log meals by photo, search or barcode: AI lists each food with an estimated weight, and the student checks it before logging.

On the web dashboard, AI drafts workouts, multi-week programs and weekly meal plans from what the teacher asks for. Nothing reaches a student until the teacher reviews and assigns it.

How do reminders work?

Students get a push 24 hours and 1 hour before each class or session they book. Habit reminders arrive at a time each student picks. Membership reminders go out 7, 3 and 1 days before a membership ends, by push notification and email, and quiet hours are respected.

Does Trainaq cost less than other coaching apps?

Yes. At the client counts compared on Trainaq's comparison pages, Trainaq costs less than Trainerize, Everfit and TrueCoach. The numbers and the check date are on the comparison pages, so you can see the arithmetic for your own client count.

Two more cost facts matter to a studio:

  • The client app is free for students.
  • Every plan starts with a free trial and no card is needed.

For plan limits and current prices, see Trainaq pricing. Work out your own number first: count your active students, count the teachers who need a login, then compare plans on those two figures.

What should a studio in India check for payments and GST?

Studios in India should check that their software takes UPI, card and netbanking payments and issues GST invoices. Trainaq supports all three payment methods for clients in India, with GST invoices, and tracks cash and part payments as dues. Read how online payments work.

On tax, the CBIC and the GST Council set that gym, fitness, health club and yoga services attract 5% GST without input tax credit from 22 September 2025, earlier 18%. Within a State this is charged as 2.5% CGST plus 2.5% SGST, and between States as 5% IGST. Registration is required above the aggregate turnover threshold, which differs in special category States.

How do I choose and set up yoga studio software?

Choose by running a real week through a free trial. Follow these steps:

  1. Write down your classes, seats, teachers and rooms.
  2. List your membership types: class counts, unlimited months, couple plans, admission fees.
  3. Count active students and teachers who need a login.
  4. Start a free trial and set up your class types and weekly series before students arrive, so they can book on day one.
  5. Enter each student's current membership with its real start date and what they already paid.
  6. Invite students by message or email and watch the first week of bookings, waitlists and reminders.
  7. Decide only after one full week.

The yoga studio page walks through the whole week in detail.

FAQs

What is the best software for a yoga studio?

The best yoga studio software is the one that covers booking, waitlists, class-count memberships, payments, attendance and teacher logins in one place. Our top pick is Trainaq, which also gives students a free app and a home practice between classes.

A yoga studio app needs a bookable timetable, a waitlist, a membership that counts classes, reminders before class and a record of payments. A studio that coaches also benefits from habits, chat and demo videos for practice at home.

Do students pay for the Trainaq app?

The Trainaq app is free for students. They download it on iPhone or Android and join with the studio's invite link. The studio pays for its own plan, and students pay the studio for memberships.

Yes. You paste your own Zoom or Google Meet link on the class type, and only booked students see it. Online and studio classes share one timetable and the same class counts.
